Choose a Product-Page or Ready-Cart QR Code

Use a product-page QR code when the shopper still needs product information or must make a choice. Use a ready-cart QR code when the printed message already specifies the exact variant and quantity to add.

Both options create the same FlashWombat building blocks: a dynamic QR campaign, a supporting campaign link, and a first named placement. The decision changes the Shopify journey behind that campaign, not the type of QR artwork you manage.

A coffee bag that says “View tasting notes and choose your grind” should usually open a product page. A reorder card that says “Add one 250 g house blend” can use a ready cart if that exact variant and quantity will remain appropriate.

Prepare the Product and Variant

Before opening FlashWombat:

  1. Confirm the product is active and its page is available on the Shopify Online Store.
  2. Choose the exact variant represented by the packaging, insert, or display.
  3. Open the product page on a phone and check the title, images, price, availability, and options.
  4. For a ready cart, record the intended quantity and test that the variant can be added to a Shopify cart.
  5. For an offer, create and test the discount in Shopify first. FlashWombat carries the supplied code into the cart journey; Shopify decides whether it applies.

If the shopper still has a meaningful choice after reading the printed message, prefer the product page. A prepared cart should reduce a known step, not make a variant decision on the shopper's behalf.

Create and Test the Shared QR Campaign

Follow Create Your First Shopify QR Code in Five Minutes for installation, campaign creation, download, and the first successful phone scan. In the outcome step, choose the product-page or ready-cart option from the table above.

After that first scan works, use the product-packaging QR workflow to check the final journey, artwork, production-size proof, launch state, and ongoing ownership before printing.
